Our royalty software has a preformatted template for importing Amazon’s KDP Prior Month’s Royalties report in the old format (for sales through July 2017). You can download this report from your KDP portal (kdp.amazon.com). This Amazon report is a multi-currency report and shows royalties earned in their native currency. Before importing this report obtain the exchange rates for each currency in this report.
Amazon identifies eBooks with an ASIN number. Before importing Amazon sales the ASIN number needs to be recorded in your royalty software.
There are three ways to handle this in the edition record.
- Method 1. Enter the ASIN in the Vendor Codes tab for the eBook edition.
- Method 2. Create a new eBook product using the ASIN as the ISBN. If this method is selected the Amazon eBook will be displayed as a separate edition; product, on royalty statements.
- Method 3. For an existing eBook product enter the ASIN in the SKU field.
Sales Import Format: Amazon KDP Prior Month’s Royalties
After selecting the format the Option screen appears. In this screen you need to tell the software where to find the ASIN number that Amazon uses to identify your product. Is it in the editions’s vendor product ID table, the ISBN or the SKU field?
The royalty software will ask for the exchange rates for all currencies listed in the KDP Prior Month’s Royalties report. Enter an exchange rate for each currency where sales were reported.
Note: If Amazon changes the format of the KDP Royalties report please email email@example.com so we can update the import format.
