In our royalty software, “Editions” are products derived from the “Title”. Every edition is linked to one title
A title may be linked to several editions. A book may have editions in many formats. Hardcover, paperback and eBook are just a few. A book may have editions that are in different languages.
Each edition has a unique product code called an ISBN. Our software uses the term ISBN because most of our clients are book publishers. The ISBN does not have to be an actual ISBN number. It can be any unique alphanumeric text string.
Each edition can have a format. Royalty rules can based on the format of the edition. A book publisher may pay a 10% royalty on sales of paperback products and a 25% royalty on sales of eBook products.
The edition record can be accessed from the Data & functions > Title editions view or the Data & functions > Titles view > title record’s Editions tab.
This is the Title edition record.
